Custom creation
Build, validate, publish and install a custom workspace plugin.
Build a workspace plugin when an internal capability cannot perform the required operation. The plugin authoring workflow generates a package from your instructions, repairs validation failures and runs sandbox validation before publication.
Choose a capability
| Capability | Guide | What to implement |
|---|---|---|
| Connector | Connectors and fact stores | Connection checks, supported reads/writes and target contracts |
| Transform | Transforms | Parameter validation, named bindings, execution and lineage |
| MCP server | External MCP servers | Connection, authentication and supported external tools |
| Secret provider | Secrets and skills | Scoped credential resolution |
| Skill | Secrets and skills | Bundled instructions with skill frontmatter |
One package can expose several capabilities. Keep configuration shared at installation level and operation-specific inputs on each capability.
Create and install
- Write the specification and generate.
- Inspect the package format and implementation.
- Review tests and sandbox validation.
- Publish into the workspace catalog, install and configure the plugin.
- Run a bounded real operation and compare it with a known result.
Publication does not prove access to your external system. A manifest is a contract, not an implementation; avoid promising modes, writes or lineage the code does not support.
