Skills and guidance
Versioned instruction that steers generation and validation.
What it is
A skill is a versioned instruction package that guides how work gets done: sharper generation, better refinement, keener validation hints. Skills steer; they never silently change what a workflow means.
What it holds
- Instructions: the primary document saying what to do and how — readable, editable, reviewable like any document.
- Supporting files: references, scripts, and assets bundled beside the instructions when guidance needs more than words.
- Versions: every save is a version — comparable across time, rollback-able by activating an older one.
- Attachment points: whole-workflow or single-node application, so guidance lands where it belongs and nowhere else.
How it relates
- Installed from the catalog through draft-tab review into your workspace; official Semogram-published skills arrive the same way as other official capabilities.
- Applied visibly in Pipeline Studio — the graph always shows where a skill steered.
- Improved through feedback: edits are new versions, and runs show what each version changed.
- Removed safely: deleting guidance never deletes data or history.
What this means for you
- Keep active skills few and named, each mapped to a real recurring job.
- Judge against the unskilled baseline; prune what cannot show its effect.
- Edit instructions like documents — because that is what they are.
